Unified communications (UC) is de integratie van asynchrone of niet real-time communicatiediensten zoals bijvoorbeeld unified messaging met synchrone of real-time communicatiediensten zoals instant messaging (chat), presentie-informatie (presence), telefonie, (video) conferentie, etc.

Het gaat hierbij niet om een specifiek product, maar om het concept dat vele (reeds bestaande) communicatiediensten via een enkele interface op verschillende apparatuur toegankelijk zijn voor gebruik.
